Farmer’s Market In Arizona House Inside an Arch Building

Arch Building Farmer’s Market

Arches have always been used for some pretty interesting projects, business, residential, or otherwise. Recently in Tempe, Arizona a farmer’s market is now using a Quonset hut to house the entire market area. It’s a pretty radical design, but in execution it seems to work perfectly. The venture is that of the “Johnston family, of Johnston and Co., is a staple of the Gilbert community.” The entire market encapsulates 12 businesses. The businesses include two restaurants, a brewery, and a microbrewery. Originally, the Quonset hut was built with melted down airplanes used in World War II. The project was really a way to unite the business of the market as well as continue the legacy of Agritopia, the Johnston family farm.

William Johnston, a manager of the development team and son of Joe Johnston said “to See what it is now and add this newest component to it, we just are super, super blessed to be able to do these kind of things and be involved in this.” It’s a great community outreach project, and the businesses involved are dealing a lot with beer and local brewing which hasn’t been growing in popularity for years. One of the most interesting businesses or at least areas they have within the Quonset is a space for engineering creative ideas, and a wood design shop. The creative spaces are meant to garner an appreciation for creating with the hands, which in essence I meant to prolong interest in farming and market communities. Joe Johnston said “Our basic purpose for this is to kind of create a space for people who want to stay small and do their thing and not become managers of a process but actually do a process.”

All in all the community seems to be uniformly in love with the market area, and it’s reported to be bustling with activity. The idea of having a market inside of an arch building is not something that immediately comes to mind, but plenty of businesses operate within a Quonset building of some form. It’s one of the most creatively used buildings these days, from homes, to businesses, to farmers markets.

Arch Buildings

Arch buildings are American-made steel, and are very durable. All of the materials used are of the top quality, and maintain a level of inspection that is rigorous and uniform. We sell our buildings in kits, and the pieces can be purchased afterwords to increase your length with ease! Also, our buildings are clear-span, which means no beams or trusses for maximum storage space. By ordering a do-it-yourself kit, you are saving yourself lots of money. Many companies that offer “free installation” of a structure that you purchase from them simply build the cost of the delivery and installation into your building price. With us, there are no hidden fees. What you pay is the true cost of your structure. You also get the peace of mind knowing that your building has been constructed with care. Professional installers often rush through construction jobs in order to make it on to their next site more quickly, overlooking small details that may be important to you! Plus, building your structure yourself is easy.

The functions of your very own Arch Buildings are never-ending. The uses of the arch, as mentioned above, go back throughout the ages. There are an endless number of ways you can use an arch. Our buildings have been used as homes, shelters for animals, cottages, office buildings, workshops, and more. Whatever you need, the arch building can most likely do it for you. The nature of the Arch’s versatility again hearkens back to it’s design. The clear span of our buildings, which is unique in and of itself, makes the interior a blank canvas for your design. Whatever you need to build inside, store inside, or organize, we’ve got you covered. Give us a call today for a free consultation.
